Xfinity / Comcast like most other companies (including car dealers) don’t make it easy to see what you are really getting and what the “out the door” cost will be. Cell phone providers are notorious – (though T-mobile lists out the door prices – bravo!)
So here is a plain and simple list of all Comcast / Xfinity internet only plans as of what I could google in July 2017. I did a simple cut and paste job from this page http://www.dslreports.com/faq/15643 so all credit goes to them – if you want to order new service use the link on their page too.
The issue with the Xfinity site it they don’t list the upload speeds and you always get a “deal” which means it will go up by 60% in one year, e.g. my plan just went up from $59 to $94, ouch! They also do weird things in listing and describing the service you have e.g. I have a Performance plus with a speed increase to Blast! Pro ??? Why can’t they just list it as a Blast Pro?
USA, USA ….. WTF USA why is your internet so costly!
And why the hell is the internet so bloody expensive in the USA. I’m typing this article on a DSL connection here in Germany and it costs the owner about $35 per month that includes HD cable (ok not all channels like in USA but German ones none the less) and inter web speeds of (50Mbps down and 6Mbps up). Actually thats what pisses me off the most about writing this article – realizing that we are all paying way too much in the USA (cellphone service too!)
On a side note – my experience with Xfinity:
I have done a lot of uploading in the past (video production) so I opted for a 10 Mbps upload speed (a blazing 150Mbps down) but at $94 now per month this seems like a rip. Xfinity actually has a feature/ button that says “upgrade account You need to be an existing customer and be logged in too see this. I was offered a $64.95 plan that is 5 Mbps up and 55 Mbps down ($30 a month cheaper) so I’ll probably get this – silly buggers will save me $360 a year and of course they didn’t contact me to let me know of a cheaper plan.
